MSIF celebrated the launch of its new country-focused programme in Morocco this March by arranging a special visit from our capacity-building manager, Abdelfatah Ibrahim.

During his visit, Abdelfatah facilitated a capacity-building workshop in Rabat for representatives from the three organisations involved in the programme, which enabled them to set a common capacity building action plan for 2017-2019.

Sixteen board members from the Moroccan Association for People Affected by MS (AMMASEP), HANA Multiple Sclerosis Patients Association (HANASEP) and North of Morocco Association of Multiple Sclerosis (NORD.MA.SEP) took part in the productive session, in which common areas of need for the three organisations were identified and support to develop capacity-building action plans was provided.

Making progress

Abdelfatah’s visit also included a focus group discussion with people living with MS in Morocco, as well as meetings with representatives in the Ministry of Health, Health professional and key funders of MS organisations in the country.

Abdelfatah said, “It was a fantastic visit that allowed me to meet with people with, and affected by, MS, MS organisations, and different stakeholders, and get better understanding of the MS context in Morocco. It was very encouraging to see that AMMASEP, HANASEP and NORD.MA.SEP are committed to identify common grounds of working together.”

The country-focused programme aims to build the capacity of selected four MS organisations in Morocco and Saudi Arabia so that they can increase their support to people affected by MS.
