Earlier this month our CEO Peer Baneke and Head of Capacity Building Zoe Burr travelled to Buenos Aires to catch up with our members – EMA, Argentina; ABEM, Brazil; ASOGEM, Guatemala and EMUR, Uruguay – and meet representatives from other MS organisations from across Latin America and connect with health professionals working in the region.

MSIF board member María José Wuille-Bille joined Peer and Zoe at the Segundo Encuentro Anual Juntos Somos Más Fuertes event hosted by ALCEM – our supporting organisation in Argentina. The event aimed to build relationships between organisations and promote discussion and exchange of experience on topics including access to treatment and the effective use of social media.

The MSIF delegation also attended LACTRIMS (Latin America Committee for Treatment and Research in MS) and presented on ‘Latin America and the global MS movement’. They spoke about MSIF’s new capacity building work in Latin America designed to build the skills, influence and effectiveness of MS organisations in the region.

Zoe said: “It’s been a great week of getting to know our colleagues in Latin America. The passion and dedication shown by the people we’ve met is really inspiring. We’re looking forward to increasing MSIF’s work in the region in the coming years. ”
