19 MS organisations in 11 countries participated in the first ever joint regional awareness-raising campaign – My Dreams are like your dreams.
The campaign worked on two-levels as it contributed to raising MS awareness amongst young people in the region with little or no prior knowledge of the disease and, through executing the campaign using learning-by-doing techniques, contributed to a number of MSIF’s capacity-building objectives in the region.
Together with a consultation group from the region a campaign toolkit was developed and successfully used by 18 organisations in their national campaigns. Five small grants were provided to organisations in Iraq, Lebanon, Morocco and Saudi Arabia to scale-up their national campaigns.
During the course of the campaign 380 volunteers helped to run 120 events and activities in 37 governorates and cities, reaching more than 47,000 people. 7,830 social media posts were shared with the hashtag reaching 136.7 million and trending on Twitter in Saudi Arabia. The campaign was under the patronage of the Ministries of Health in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia with the Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs launching the campaign by video.
