What’s on this page?
MS organisations around the world provide evidence-based, practical and accessible information resources. These resources help people with MS make informed choices about their health and wellbeing. Exercise, a balanced diet, mental health care, and healthy sleep habits can all contribute to a better quality of life.
Each person’s MS journey is unique, and the wellness practices that work best will vary. Our members create a variety of resources, helping people to find trusted information that meets their needs.
MS Australia launches Living Well with MS
MS Australia launched Living Well with MS for World MS Day 2025. It is a practical, evidence-based guide to help people with MS make informed lifestyle choices.
96% of people with MS in Australia want to make lifestyle changes, but many struggle to access reliable, MS-specific information. This new guide offers trustworthy advice to address the information gap. The resource covers diet, vitamin D, physical activity, stress management, sleep, and more.
The guide blends medical expertise with lived experience insights to ensure both relevance and practicality. Neurologists, MS nurses, allied health professionals, researchers, and MS Australia’s Lived Experience Expert Panel collaborated to develop this resource. Its flexible format allows readers to explore the full guide or focus on the sections most relevant to them.
Living Well with MS empowers people to take an active role in their wellbeing. It combines robust evidence with personal perspectives. You can read more about the launch and download the guide here.
MSIF’s global wellness resource
MSIF launched the guide, Wellness practices and complementary therapies for MS, in 2025. The resource provides balanced, evidence-based information on a variety of wellness practices and complementary therapies. It explores everything from mindfulness and exercise to dietary supplements and acupuncture. The guide helps people with MS weigh up different approaches and decide what works for them.
MSIF members are making this guide accessible to more people. The Associação Brasileira de Esclerose Múltipla (ABEM) developed a Brazilian Portuguese translation. Stichting MS Research and the Flemish MS League developed a Dutch translation together. Esclerosis Múltiple Uruguay (EMUR) translated parts into Latin American Spanish and adapted key messages for their social media. Guide translations are also underway in Czech, Danish, French, Portuguese and Macedonian. Many organisations have added the guide to their website, helping it to reach more people with MS and healthcare professionals.

More wellness resources from MSIF members
MS organisations worldwide have created a wide range of materials on healthy living. Resources are available in many languages and cover a wide range of topics, including:
Mindfulness & meditation
With relaxation techniques you can positively influence the course of your MS and its symptoms and reduce stress. How well each relaxation technique works varies from person to person.
- Esclerosis Múltiple Argentina: MS: Yoga and Meditation (Spanish, English, Russian, Hebrew)
- MS Society of India: Benefits of meditation animation (English)
- Polskie Towarzystwo Stwardnienia Rozsianego: Mindfulness (Polish, English)
Exercise & physical activity
Exercise can improve your quality of life and slow down the progression of MS. It is important to adapt the type and intensity of exercise to your MS and fitness level.
Shauna Brady, a Canadian nurse says, ‘Always consider your safety first, if you feel unstable on your feet, don’t be afraid to adjust or modify the exercise if needed. If you need to use walking poles or a walker, that’s okay. Use a shopping cart for balance so you can focus on endurance and be less concerned about falling.’ – MS Canada
- Esclerosis Múltiple Espana: EMforma platform – information on healthy living, exercise, physiotherapy, and more (Spanish)
- MS Canada: Wellness break: Stretching and strengthening (English)
- MS Canada: Physical activity and MS (English)
- Japan MS Society: The Stretch – Yoga for all (Japanese)
- Polskie Towarzystwo Stwardnienia Rozsianego: MS Tai Chi series (Polish)
- Greek MS Society: How to exercise safely with MS (Greek)
Nutrition & healthy eating
A healthy diet is important for general health. Moreover, gut health can affect our metabolism, hormone production and immune system. The connections between digestion and chronic diseases are not fully understood. Yet, it’s suspected that diet can influence MS symptoms.
- Österreichische Multiple Sklerose Gesellschaft: Healthy Nutrition in MS (German)
- Israel MS Society: Nutrition booklet – What are we eating today? (Arabic, Hebrew, Russian)
- National MS Society USA: Vitamins, minerals and herbs (English)
