The Japan MS Society offered people affected by MS, the public and professionals specialising in MS a day full of informative and inspiring lectures and presentations at its seventh annual seminar.

The seminar, held in Tokyo, opened with warm wishes from MSIF representatives and a speech from Mr H. Mizutani, the organisation’s chairman. Participants then enjoyed an informative lecture about MS from Dr I. Nakashima, professor at Tohoku Medical and Pharmaceutical University, followed by fascinating reports from four young doctors about their research: Dr D. Takewaki, Dr N. Isobe, Dr M. Hamatani and Dr Y. Arima. All four doctors received financial support from the Japan MS Society as recipients of the organisation’s 2017 grants.

Ms Kyoko Nakata, winner of MSIF’s 2017 Wolfensohn Award and president of the organisation MS Cabin, gave an inspiring speech about her life with MS and her contributions to the MS community. Other highlights included a Q&A session between people affected by MS and MS specialists.

One participant commented, ‘I was so impressed by the young doctors’ research – it gives me much hope for the future to see such progress. I am delighted to have joined today’s symposium.’
