Representatives of the UK MS Society raised vital awareness of MS at a recent International Peacebuilding Conference.

Several volunteers on the UK MS Society’s English Council worked in collaboration with the Rotarian Action Group for MS Awareness (RAGSMA) to attend the Rotary International Conference. The event, held in Coventry, included a discussion about disease prevention and management – in particular, the possible benefits of appropriate prevention and management of disease for physical and mental health and wellbeing. This discussion tied in well with past workshops on ‘Hope in overcoming MS’, developed by Coventry University and part-funded by the UK MS Society.

The volunteers took advantage of the opportunity to raise awareness by discussing MS with many young people at the event and distributing valuable MS resources among all delegates, such as the UK MS Society’s publication, ‘Research Matters’ and a RAGSMA leaflet outlining how Rotarians can help people affected by MS. Numerous delegates showed a keen interest in offering their support for MS.

Diane Lucas, an English Council Member who attended the conference, played a significant role in distributing information about MS at the event and raising awareness of MS among delegates.

“It was such an enjoyable day and I think we have made some valuable contacts”, Diane commented. “It was an absolute privilege to be there.”
