On 3 February, the MS Society of India (MSSI) blazed a trail across the country with their MS Awareness Motorbike Rally. Around 700 bikers hit the road in commemoration of India MS Day, MSSI’s annual celebration.

Initiated in 2016, India MS Day aims to raise awareness of MS across the country. Events are organised across the 8 chapters of the MSSI for people with MS, caregivers and stakeholders.

This year’s activities were supported by the State’s Disability Commissioner, local celebrities and international athletes. Performances, speeches and community picnics took place alongside the bike rally. The celebrations generated media attention and raised MSSI’s public profile.

MSSI’s National Secretary, Renuka Malaker, said:

‘We were able to create huge awareness about MS with a completely new segment of people in a fun filled and informative manner through street plays, music, talks by doctors and persons with MS.

Spreading awareness about MS is critical in a place like India and we were able to do so in a focussed and targeted manner. We have received many new queries and are in the process of connecting them to our regional offices.’
